Day Camps Packing List
- Clothes suitable for moving, getting dirty, and protection from the sun or cold. For cool mornings, wear a warm layer that can fit in the backpack later. Tulle (dress frill) is not recommended due to blackberry brambles
- Close-toed shoes or close-toed sandals.* Expect shoes to get dirty and/or muddy On especially hot days we may be wading in the river. Please be prepared to pack water shoes. The instructor will let you know at pick up if/when water activities are being planned.
- Extra socks.
- Refillable water bottle or two. If an insulated bottle, avoid filling it with too much ice since the ice won’t melt
- Nutritious lunch and snack (tree nut-free). On big hike days, aim for lighter foods like sandwiches instead of soup in a thermos.
- Sunglasses. Look for UV protection, and consider a neck strap
- A Long-sleeve lightweight shirt that can go over a t-shirt for sunny walks.
- Hat, umbrella or parasol (kids are always asking to borrow mine!)
- Sunblock (non-aerosol). Zinc oxide or titanium dioxide based sunblocks are recommended. Apply in morning and pack for child to re-apply later.
- Bug repellent (non-aerosol): mainly needed early summer and maybe deep woods. Check that it is non-aerosol and safe for kids
- A backpack your child can comfortably carry on a 15 minute walk that fits all the things above. We do not have a storage area for lunch bags.
- Ages 10 and older only (OPTIONAL): Fixed blade knife with sheath (3-5” blade length). See knife info page.
